Vasant Navaratri runs from March 28 - April 5 this year of 2017. It coincides with Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. When you participate in Vasant Navaratri yagya festival, your life is infused with Shakthi or nature's organizing power. Sattwa, the principle of wholeness, balance, preservation & protection is also enlivened - life lived in accordance with natural law. It culminates in Rama Navami (appearance day of Lord Rama - Vishnu Avatar) on April 4. Rama, subject of Ramayana, is one of Maha Vishnu's great incarnations. He took birth to vanquish the demon Ravana and restore dharma or life lived in accord with natural law. His life is a perfect example of the highest principles and ethics lived on a daily basis. As an incarnation of Maha Vishnu, Rama embodies the principle of maintenance or preservation (Sattwa).
On the planetary level, Vishnu (Rama) is Adi Devata or primary aspect of universal intelligence ruling Budha (Mercury) and Guru (Jupiter).
