January 23, 2007 marks the day of Maha Saraswathi

There are 4 Navaratris each year [also known as the 9 days/nights of Mother Divine]. The major ones are the maha [grand] navaratri in October/November and Vasant [spring] Navaratri in April/May. There are also 2 'gupta' or hidden navaratris - the next of which begins January 19/20. Each Navaratri has a particular theme aside from the general underlying context of the enlivenment of Shakti or Nature's organizing power. This coming Navaratri [9 nights of MD] centers around Maha Saraswati - that aspect of Divine Mother governing arts and profession/career. Her day - Saraswati Puja - the day of Maha Saraswati happens on the 5th lunar day which is January 23, 2007

Maha Saraswathi embodies the “Gyana Akasha” or all pervading knowingness. She presides over pure knowledge and practical knowledge. She is worshipped by those seeking the direct experience of the pure knowledge of Enlightenment. She is the Goddess of speech & writing & proficiency in all applied aspects of learning – the arts and sciences and profession.

When pleased, she bestows success in one’s career, studies, creative endeavors, and saadhana [spiritual practice]
